Two upper thirties from Cherry Lake
Monday 23 October 2017
As some of you may have guessed I have been away from Cherry Lakes for a couple of weeks and hence the slow down in news updates. As always some of the bigger Carp seem to get caught when I am not here. This time was no exception.
The smaller lakes across the complex have been producing very well in my absence with both plenty of carp and many over 20lb being caught. Thank you to all the anglers who let me have their catch reports and photos. It is always great for me to see how the Carp are doing.
Cherry Lake has produced some cracking Carp including the two upper 30′s below to the two newest members of the Cherry Lake 30+ club.
The big Common known as ‘The Patch ‘ came out at his highest weight so far this year at 38-04. This is also the biggest Carp reported so far this year from Cherry Lake. This fish has such a fabulous frame that I very much hope that the next time we see ‘him’ in the Spring it could be above the current Cherry Lake record which stands at 40-04. This Carp was caught by Bradley Palmer who was on his first ever visit to Cherry Lake with his good friend Ben Davies when they fished Heron Lodge together during October. It was also I think the only Carp that Bradley caught that weekend! I am also pleased to say that Ben also managed to catch one, a new PB, a cracking heavily scaled Mirror of 24-14. A good trip I would say! Both are pictured below.
‘The Pretty One’ has also come out during October, up 2lb on her last capture at 36-08. What a fish she is. Absolutely stunning. All the more so in the late afternoon light. The fortunate angler this time was Zac Rastall, who when I spoke to him was still delighted about catching such a fabulous fish. He also landed Mirrors of 28-06, 21-12 and a lovely home grown Ghost Common of 10lb. Not a bad way to spend his 30th birthday!
