Two cancellations and some lovely twenties
Saturday 16 September 2017
I thought I would open up with news about two cancellations rather than tagging them onto the end of this update. As regular readers know we always try to re-sell late cancellations to try to get at least some of the deposit back for those cancelling.
Grebe Lodge on Cherry Lake is available for next weekend Friday 22 to Monday 25 September. Given how good Cherry Lake is fishing I am sure someone should be able to take advantage and squeeze a late break in.
Pochard Lodge, which is our only larger two bedroom Lodge which also offers exclusive access to Cherry Mere, has just become available for Monday to Friday 02-06 October.
Please call us on 01285 869887. As always first come, first served.
Having provided an update on Cherry Lake yesterday, now that I have been sent some photos, I am able to concentrate the rest of this update on the exclusive smaller lakes around the Cherry Lakes complex.
Adrian Fox stayed this week in Kingfisher Lodge with his amazing partner Rachel. I hope they don’t mind me saying, but we were very touched and humbled by the bravery, courage, sense of humour as well as positive attitude of Rachel. Rachel, who is much younger than us, is sadly very ill and yet she was determined to visit Cherry Lakes with her partner Adrian. They said they had a lovely time which we were delighted about. Adrian also did well to catch a good number of Carp including this stunning 23lb Mirror below.Thank you both for visiting and we hope you can squeeze in another visit very soon.
Terry Brushette and Simon Jarvis have been on a return visit with their better halves and stayed again in Pochard Lodge on Cherry Mere and caught steadily throughout their stay. Unusually the nights were more productive than the days. I have clearly failed in my attempts to train the Carp to feed only during the day after 08.00! Terry was delighted to set a new PB with this 20-08 Common below having also caught a 20-02 Mirror. Having seen the photo, I can confirm that this was actually a Ghost Common. Simon caught three 20′s to 22lb including this night caught 20-02 Mirror below.
Cherry Pool as always fished very well with a lot of Roach, Bream and Carp along with several lovely Crucian carp to match style tactics. I was very pleased when David Lathwood echoed the words of several other visitors to Cherry pool when he commended us on the condition of the fish. Our regular feeding, particularly of Spod Mix, in this lake ensures that all of the fish are in good condition and growing slowly. It is not just the Carp that benefit from the feed.
