Three 30′s in a week!
Friday 7 April 2017
As some of you know this has been the last week of my contract where I have been away for most of the week. An enjoyable year in Barrow in Furness except the nightmare travelling! I am now back for good (or at least that’s what Judith tells me)! However this does mean that I often miss the excitement at Cherry Lakes and I have missed a good week!
Our good friends Ken O’Connor and his wife Rosemary spent a few days in Heron Lodge. Having blanked on his last couple of trips (over the winter), he got his own back when he landed this fabulous Ghost Mirror at 30-02. This Mirror came out last April to Paul Sparks at a very similar weight of 30-09.
Amazingly this is Ken’s third different Ghost carp over 30lb+ from Cherry Lake and I think his fifth different 30! I am not sure who holds the individual record for the most different 30lb+ Carp from Cherry Lake it is either Ken or Chris Hughes who recently set the new Cherry Lake Ghost carp record with another Ghost Mirror of 33-08?
Barry Torrance stayed in Grebe Lodge had an amazing 12 hours over Thursday night when he landed Mirrors of 32-04 and 31-00. This is when I really feel not being around as Barry’s photos were really quite poor. A shame for both Barry when you think this is a great English brace and that I am unable to identify either of the Carp. Regardless of the photos…. well done Barry!
Andy Clark was making his first visit to Cherry Lakes as a birthday treat and stayed with his family in Cherry Lake Cottage. As you can see he landed a cracking Cherry Lake Mirror of 22-04. He was pleased with the Carp, but not as pleased as nine year old Hayden appears to be with his Dad!
Mark Arnold also had another very attractive 22lb carp. This time it was from Cherry Springs as he was staying in Kingfisher Lodge.
Well done to everyone, some good fish under high pressure conditions which did result in the lakes being a little slower than the last couple of weeks.
