Jamie Auvache 30 R

The Jamie's crack it on their first visit together

They both land thirties from Cherry Lake
Thursday 10 October 2024

The fishing across all our lakes remains a little 'below par' for the time of the year. The lake levels continue to increase and are now close to their 'full winter levels'. The water temperatures have suffered as a result. Fortunately the Carp are still being caught.

The 'stars' of the weekend were the two Jamie's. Jamie Auvache and Jamie Thompson who were staying together in Osprey Lodge for their first visit to Cherry Lake.

They shared four Carp, including three over 30lb+ to 39-12.

It was hard work for them until just after mid-day on Sunday, when they recorded their first run. This one came to Jamie Thompson's rods and turned out to be a Common of 30-01.

As you can see from the picture above, this Common was almost as big around the middle as it is long (sounds like my relative waist measurement!). This fish appeared to be very healthy and I could not be sure as to whether this was is regular shape or (and this is probably most likely) if it is still carrying spawn. If so fingers crossed it successfully reabsorbs it and successfully spawns next year.

This Carp is the 63rd entry into our 2024 30's+ catalogue (which includes 9 different Carp over 40lb).

Jamie went onto to catch the 4th fish of their session, a high double if my memory serves me right.

Jamie Auvache landed a brace of 30's on Sunday afternoon. Both came from an area about 75% of the way out from Osprey Lodge fished over an area which they had been spoding too regularly through the weekend.

His first one was this very clean looking Carp pictured in the lead photo above. Our 64th different 30+ of the year.

His second Carp, a new PB, was this very distinctive Ghost Common of 39-12. I think this is the heaviest weight that this lovely Ghostie has been caught at and hopefully should comfortably be a new 40+ for us the next time she is caught (hopefully by next Spring).

Well done guys and thanks for the quality photos. See you hopefully during the winter.
