The James family celebrate Phil’s birthday with a cracking haul from Cherry Springs

The James family are currently staying in Kingfisher Lodge on Cherry Springs  and are really enjoying Phil’s birthday weekend. Within 24 hours of starting they have already landed 11 Carp including the three cracking fish below.

Cherry Springs has not been fished for the last couple of weeks and is responding to the heavy focused baiting techniques being used.

The biggest fish so far has come to Mark James. A Mirror of 25lb caught during the night. Unfortunately the photos do not do this particularly fish justice. Judging by the body shape and length, this particular Mirror should comfortably be a 30lb+ Carp over the next year or so.

Although it is Phil’s birthday, and he has caught two Carp so far, he is being out fished by both of his son’s. Luke has caught two stunning Mirrors of 18-08 and 16-08. These Carp look great in their winter colours. These are young fish which have put on weight over the last year and one’s which I expect to be 20+ later in the year as we continue to apply our on-going feeding programme.

The James family catch to date of 11 Carp which includes 7 doubles including the 3 Carp shown here, clearly highlights the improving average size of the Carp in Cherry Springs as well as a good range of Carp sizes. Well done guys and you still have two nights to go!
