Steve Barden loves Cherry Mere

Steve Barden and his very pregnant wife Mary-Anne stayed in Pochard Lodge on Cherry Mere this week. The first few days were frustrating for Steven, plenty of  twitches and short pulls, but no Carp. He did lose several including a real monster but nothing visited the bottom of his landing net.

I am not sure what I said to him…..but it worked. Steven finished strongly landing four including a 23-07 Ghost Mirror. Unfortunately the photos were poor so I have not been able to reproduce them here. Fortunately fishery manager Dave was on hand when he landed this cracking 21lb Common below.

Never one to miss an opportunity, particularly as Pochard Lodge is surprisingly not booked for this weekend, I thought I would slip in behind Steven for a few hours whilst Judith was not looking! I fished with our new birdfood/milk based boilie ‘Dairy-Cream Delight’ and landed 4 Carp in very quick succession including two 18lb Mirrors plus this very attractive Mirror of just under 20lb’s below. With the fishing conditions currently so good, and a bait which the Carp are really enjoying, even I could not mess up.
