Spring has arrived at Cherry Lakes for Chris and John.
Sunday 27 March 2016
We took advantage of the low booking levels and horrible fishing weather, to escape on a short holiday to the Canaries last week, hence the absence of my normal updates. We are now, hopefully, ready for the busier period ahead at Cherry Lakes.
Overall, the fishing across the Cherry Lakes complex was good throughout the winter. We had very few blank sessions with some anglers having very good ones. We have had Carp to 26lb landed from both Cherry Springs and Cherry Mere, as well as three different 30′s to 38-12 landed from Cherry Lake. The last few weeks with the arrival of colder weather, and in particular the first period of sustained high pressure and Easterly winds proving to be the most difficult of the winter.
I am pleased to say that the weather is now very different, and it certainly feels like Spring has arrived at Cherry Lakes. The trees are budding, and the Weeping Willows (which are often the first to leaf) are looking particularly green. the Daffodils are in full bloom.
Easter Weekend has already seen lovely sunshine, a warm southerly gale and lots of rain…..and it is only Sunday. Although a little premature, I thought it would be worthwhile to give an update on how Chris Czarny and John Hill are doing in the Cottage swim on Cherry Lake.
Chris and John are clearly accomplished good anglers, who also know how to photograph their captures. With the Cottage swim not having been fished for a few weeks, coupled with a strong warm southerly blowing onto the Cherry Lake house bank by the Cottage swim, all meant that conditions have been good for big hit. Chris and John have clearly taken full advantage of these conditions. To Sunday morning they have landed 9 Carp and lost one. They have had 6 twenties to 27lb along with three upper doubles. Chris reported that all the Carp were looking in good condition. I have picked out several of their photos below. Although at the rate they are going I am guessing there will be more!
