Sorry Mike! His new PB is a 34-12 Common
Wednesday 31 August 2016
Last weekend was much slower across the Cherry Lakes complex which was strange given the humid conditions and regular downpours and odd thunderstorm. Normally I would have expected more Carp to have been caught.
I am pleased to report that all Lodges and the Cottage all reported a capture, but unusually one each. Both Heron and Osprey Lodges were saved from a ‘blank’ by fish on Monday morning. Daniel Bowie’s 25lb Common from Heron Lodge was also the biggest of the weekend (sorry no photo).
Archie Hurrell, was delighted with his stay in Pochard Lodge and landed several good Carp including a 22lb PB Mirror. (Also no photo). Well done Archie.
Now an apology to one of our regular guests, Mike Booth. Mike caught the big Common back in July at a very spawned out low weight of 34-12. Somehow I forgot to post details of his new PB, too much time working away is my only excuse, so here it is! Other than being ‘skinny’ ( which I think is a good healthy sign),the Big Common looks in great shape. I could have said that I held back his photo below to a ‘no photo’ day but that would not be the whole truth! Incompetence rather than planning. Apologies for the delay Mike.
Hot on the heals of the new 31lb Linear Mirror last week (what a cracking Carp! See the post below.) is the news of another new 30+ from the Cottage earlier today. As soon as I have the details I will update you. This suggests to me that the Carp are now feeding well and putting weight on. The next time we see the Big Common I expect she will be a good 2-3lb heavier. Time will tell!
