Slow but steady and desperate for some wind!
Friday 21 October 2016
Bob Gardiner had this week’s biggest Carp from Cherry Lake at 25-08 from Grebe Lodge, see his picture below. With just a few other Carp caught including several small ones on Maggots, Cherry Lake has continued to be challenging. The on-going high pressure, clear nights and full moon has not been helping. Last weekend two other 25lb Carp were caught including one to Phil Fry of Angling Technics fame fishing from Heron Lodge.
Stephen Williams who was staying in Kingfisher Lodge on Cherry Springs caught steadily after a very slow first day or so and finished with eight including this good looking 19-12 Mirror below. A similar number, eight Carp to just over 20lb, was also landed from Cherry Springs. As I mentioned last week, these lakes do tend to still offer the anglers chances in difficult conditions because of the greater number and density of the stock in a smaller water.
Whilst we had some rain last weekend we did not get any big winds. We are getting desperate for a big blow and ideally a nice south-westerly with low pressure, as we have not yet seen the fish really get on the feed this autumn. If this high pressure keeps on we will slip straight into winter before we know it!
