Scott Kelly lands another new thirty…The second in a week
Thursday 1 September 2016
As you can tell by the headline we are very pleased to report the capture of the second new thirty in a week.
Scott Kelly became the latest member of the Cherry Lake 30+ club when he landed this splendid Mirror Carp on Wednesday morning at 31-06. Scott who is an angling consultant to ‘Spotted Fin’ was testing a new Spotted Fin boilie. He caught the fish in 5 feet of water over 2Kg of chopped bolies on a bottom bait.
Scott dropped me a note to say that the Mirror ‘fought well and was in great condition’. He added ‘the Carp had a massive frame and looks like it could do a lot more weight in the future’. I certainly hope so! You can judge for yourself from the photos below. Well done Scott.
Phil Pohl, who was staying in Heron Lodge and fishing Cherry Lake for the third year in a row, managed 6 Carp during his stay and was this week’s top rod. His biggest was this attractive Mirror of 27-04. Another Carp which looks like it could easily carry more weight in the future.
Generally however, the fishing across all the lakes this week has been a little slow. The return of better weather and high pressure (1025mb as I write) is not helpful. All anglers on the smaller lakes have caught but in smaller numbers than is the norm. Still next week looks like autumn weather!
