Richard Harrison and John Foy land PB’s from Grebe Lodge
Monday 21 May 2018
John Foy and his lovely wife Denise have been visiting Cherry Lakes since 2015 and are amongst our favourite guests. I hope John does not mind me saying that I think it is remarkable that he is still fishing at his age (around 80) given he has real problems with his back and hands. Despite these ‘handicaps’ John loves his fishing and is determined not to give up and in particular his visits to Cherry Lakes. I just hope I still have the desire and determination that John has to still go fishing when I am his age.
John tells me he loves coming once or twice a year to Cherry Lakes from his Manchester home. He describes Cherry Lakes as his fishery ‘Bulls-eye’! A lovely phrase which I have copied here!
On his last visit last week (whilst I was away) John and Denise were accompanied by their Grandson Richard Harrison when they stayed in Grebe Lodge. Richard, who is a good angler who has done well on previous visits to Cherry Lake, is a real help to John whilst he is here. We very much hope Richard is able to get the time off work to accompany him on future visits.
Their trip started with a real bang on Monday as Richard had his first Carp within an hour of casting out and what a fish. He landed his new PB when he landed a Mirror Carp of 35lb. This lovely Mirror was last caught by Tim Barber in early April at 34-04. Most of the Carp were caught off the shallows and margins on a range of baits including Cherry Lake pop ups and Cell boilies.
Richard becomes the second proud owner of the new Cherry Lake 35+ club sweatshirt as well as the latest member of the 30+ club.
Richard and John went on to share a ten Carp catch which included 6 twenties as well as the 35lb Mirror including a PB Common of 29-12 for John. Richard had a lovely fully scaled Mirror of 24lb which I have included below.
Well done to you both and we look forward to seeing you all (John, Denise and Richard) next year
