No outside boilies policy update

New policy to be introduced from 01 March 25
Monday 6 January 2025

As regular followers of Latest News are aware, I have been expressing some disappointment regarding the weight gain of our biggest Carp in Cherry Lake over the last year or two. Whilst this remains the case for some of bigger Carp across the complex, having just completed a netting to check the stock, I am pleased to say that there is also some good news coming very soon!

I am now increasingly excited about the prospects for some great Carp fishing in 2025 and beyond. As such we doubling down on our planning for the year ahead, to ensure we continue to offer our guests the best Carp fishing holiday in the UK.

Bait has always been, and will no doubt continue to be, a very subjective and emotive subject for many anglers, so we recognise it is very important we explain our decision making as it will effect everyone visiting us from March 2025. In simple terms we can summarise the reasons for this change under three straight forward points

  1. Growth. All our Carp are increasing in weight. We want to ensure you are fishing for some of the biggest and best Carp in the UK
  2. Health and Condition. Healthy good conditioned Carp and happy Carp and are most likely to feed and be caught. They should hopefully be well placed to resist and fight off the various challenges from nature.
  3. Optimise. We can only achieve points 1 and 2, in the best possible way by managing both the quality and quantity of what the Carp feed on. Given our stock levels, we have to significantly supplement what anglers feed. Going forwards we will be much better placed to get this more consistently right.

Our research and due diligence in reaching these conclusions has been extensive. We have talked to a number of leading fishery experts in our efforts to find a solution which works best for our Carp and guests. We hope all of our regular guests as well as new ones will positively embrace this new policy and can see the results in both the condition and size of the Carp they are catching across the Cherry Lakes complex.

We are aiming to publish our new top quality boilie and bait range very soon including our prices. We are expecting to significantly improve our bait packages and reduce the prices of the boilies we have on sale. Watch this space!

In the meantime, the headline is that we have finished our winter work and the complex is well positioned for a vintage year ahead. We can’t wait to smash our records for the number of big Carp caught and individual Personal Bests.
