Neil Rowe lands 6 from Pochard Lodge on Cherry Mere
Monday 22 October 2018
The difficult conditions continue. Personally I am sick of the almost continuous run of high pressure which we have experiencing for months. We really could do with some proper rain with the lakes being very low and the River Churn barely flowing. If we have a dry winter we could have a real problem next year. Currently the high pressure is making life difficult for our current guests. Still bright days and cold clear nights are always a challenge especially as we get well into autumn.
This weekend the smaller lakes all produced some fish to our guests, albeit in smaller numbers than would normally be expected. Top rod on these lakes this weekend was Neil Rowe, who fished on Cherry Mere from Pochard Lodge with Stephen Hayes. Neil had 6 Carp to 23lb including these beautiful Mirror and Ghost Common Carp below. Indeed Neil’s Ghostie looks more like a Goldfish! Stephen interestingly also had an attractive Ghost Common of 16lb. Despite the conditions Neil’s successful tactic was to bait heavily with Cell boilies using a throwing stick to spread it around.
Cherry Lake was typically slow given the conditions with two Carp landed, and frustratingly two Carp lost, including this very good looking and great shaped Mirror of 26-08 to Howard Carter fishing from the Cottage.
Pochard Lodge on Cherry Mere remains available for a last minute booking for this weekend 26-29 October and Osprey Lodge on Cherry Lake is available for the weekends of 02-05 and 09-12 November. Please call 01285 869887 if you are interested.
