Marc and Leigh-Ann's amazing double take repeat!
Jacob Roberts beats his PB several times culminating in a 29-12 Cherry Springs Mirror.
Tuesday 4 June 2024
As promised I will attempt to complete my update on the amazing fishing which we experienced across all four lakes last week.
I was expecting to lead with young Jacob Roberts 29-12 Mirror from Cherry Springs, but on receipt of Marc and Leigh-Ann's repeat double take shot I could not resist starting with them.
Marc and Leigh-Ann have been long term regular guests at Cherry Lakes and normally pick the Whitsun week to be in Pochard Lodge on Cherry Mere. This year they did just that and had a cracking week. In total they landed 42 Carp between them to 25lb. Most impressively of all they had a double take on the Thursday enabling them to have this great 'couples' shot of a pair of twenties! See the lead photo above.
Amazingly in 2021 the same event of having a double take also occurred enabling them to take the original 'couples' shot, pictured below. I have to say that Leigh-Ann has not aged a bit...........but I think Marc should keep wearing his hat!
I am not clear on the breakdown of their 42 Carp catch. It is unusual to catch so many on Cherry Mere without a big twenty or a thirty being caught. I suspect the biggest fish have not yet spawned and, just like on the other lakes, largely hiding themselves away. I did particularly like the 20-12 white looking Ghost Common of Marc's pictured below.
The Roberts family stayed in Kingfisher Lodge on Cherry Springs last week. Their first visit to Cherry Lakes. Whilst Mum and Grandma slept in the Lodge Dad Billy and son Jacob slept outside in the bivvy. One of our first guests to make use of the 'bivvy swim' which is right next to Kingfisher Lodge.
Between Billy and Jacob, they managed a total of 19 Carp, which included 5 over 20lb. Jacob managed to beat his PB several times and was buzzing when I saw him just before they left, because he finished with his new PB and the biggest Carp of the trip. A 29-12 Mirror. Well done Jacob.
