Kerry Guest returns for her new PB.
We still have some availability in August and September for Cherry Lake
Sunday 6 August 2023
You might not be surprised to know that after our weekend shin-dig during the mid-season break, Judith and I slipped away last week for a break. In truth, given I have several fishing trips in the diary running up to the year end, I thought it would be 'politic' to also have some holiday time with my wife! Hence this update is a little sketchy.
It is always good to see guests catch their PB whilst visiting Cherry Lakes and especially when it is a lady angler. Kerry Guest stayed in Grebe Lodge and managed 5 Carp during her stay. I asked her for a few details about the 31-02 Common and she sent me the following which I have simply cut and pasted........
''Hi Mike, I caught my new pbĀ of 31lb 2oz on a Ronny rig with a 15mm Scopex red pop up, presented over a mixture of scopex boilies and pellet on the left side near the tree line. Just by o the aerator. Beautiful fish. We had such a great time once again''. Thanks Kerry.
As you can see in the lead photo above, this Common is a distinctive fish. It is almost a two-tone, and on the left flank has a clear scar. I am pleased to say that this Carp is both a new thirty for us and another addition to our 30+ catalogue.
Mark and Sarah Miller returned this weekend for their second visit to Cherry Lake. Having survived the fiercest of the winds and much of the rain on Saturday, Mark landed a 25lb Common. This was followed within a few hours by this Common of 35-08 pictured above. Given he is here for a week, Mark is hopeful after a good start of a few more! Fingers crossed
I have mentioned before that bookings, particularly for Cherry Lake have been more short term in nature than previous years. Whilst most of our booking periods fill up, I am having to get used to having gaps in the diary! This coupled with a couple of cancellations means we have some vacancies in August and September which in recent years would have been sold out by now. These are listed here
11-14 and 14-18 August. Cherry Lake Lodge
21-25 August. Cherry Lake Cottage
01-04, 04-08 and 08-11 September. Cherry Lake Lodge
15-18 September. Cherry Lake Lodge
25-29 September. Cherry Lake Lodge

The second PB featured in this update is the 30lb heavily scaled Mirror, pictured above, which was caught by Paul Sheppard from Osprey Lodge. This lovely Carp is another new addition to the ranks of our 30lb+ Carp. Our running total for this year is 67 different Carp over 30lb.
Paul also caught a 29-02 Common, which looks like a real unit, which I have inclued below!.
The three exclusive lakes are all fishing well this weekend. Sorry no photos. Paul Chaisty and George fishing on Cherry Pool have caught some 12 Carp to 28lb plus several lovely Crucians around 2lb. Amy and Gavin McAndrew are also doing well on Cherry Springs landing over 10 Carp to date to 26lb. The anglers on Cherry Mere also report over 10 Carp caught so far including several mid-twenties. More detail next time.....sorry.
