Karen Jenner lands 3 x 30's to 39lb

As always something interesting happens whilst I am away. I know hardly surprising as I am away a lot!

John and Karen Jenner booked themselves into Heron Lodge for a week's holiday. Their first visit to Cherry Lakes. They shared a total of 8 Carp, but boy did Karen kick John's backside! Not only did Karen catch the Lion's share of the fish caught (6 to 2), she also became the first lady angler to catch three thirties in the course of one visit. When I spoke to John he was very philosophical about how the Carp were shared out, as well as very proud of Karen!

Karen's biggest Carp of the week was this 39-03 Common pictured above. Temporary fishery manager Simon Littmoden (both Dave and I were away), was on hand to help weigh this chunk of a Common. The fish picked up a single hook bait about a rod length off the near side aerator. This Carp now represents her new PB.

Karen's other two thirties both came from either the middle or around the left hand aerator. The 35-03 Mirror with it's distinctive scale pattern above is a new entry in this year's 30+ catalogue. Her 33-02 Mirror below was last caught by Craig Lamble in May 23 at 31-05. This lovely Carp has clearly been on the feed post-spawning and is already comfortably up in weight.

Alan Cross returned to Cherry Lakes just over a week ago and stayed in Osprey Lodge. The lake made him work hard. He managed two Carp during his stay, both of which were worth waiting for. His first Carp was a heavily scaled Mirror of 33-08. He followed this up on Thursday morning with the big two-tone Common, which we weighed in at 43-08. This very distinctive Common was last caught by Eliot Lee in September 23 at 40-06. Another Carp comfortably up in weight.

Our running total for different Carp caught from Cherry Lake over 30lb+ in 2023, now stands at over 70.

Regular Adrian Bates returned with his wife Lorraine for their August holiday in Kingfisher Lodge on Cherry Springs last week. Adrian had a great few days landing 19 Carp. This total included 5 over 20lb including a 28-10 Mirror (pictured below) and this stunning Mirror o 28-03 above. I am told that this Carp was really 'stunning in the flesh', and that the photo does not do it full justice. See you next year Adrian.
