Jake Dale lands the biggest and smallest of the weekend!
Sunday 15 May 2016
A good weekend on Cherry Lake with some 15 carp caught by three anglers up to the time of writing on Sunday afternoon. I have indulged myself this week with four photos below!
Julian Dwyer who is one of our regulars has landed 6 from Grebe Lodge, including two carp of 21lb. Judging by the size of these fish I think he got amongst the male Carp who are definitely looking forwards to spawning time!
Jake Dale fishing in Osprey Lodge also landed six Carp including a very big looking Common which went 29-08 on the scales, see the picture below. He also landed a Ghost Common of 24lb, and three other 20lb+ Carp. His smallest Carp were an 18lb Common held below by his partner Emma and this splendid baby Mirror of 2-08 held below by Jake. The photo of these two carp together is certainly one of my favourites of the year to date. The small Mirror, which Jake said was absolutely immaculate, is one of a small number of Carp which have come through from spawning several years ago shortly after we drained Cherry Lake.
Ben Wales of Carp Talk fame, spent the weekend in Heron Lodge, his second visit to Cherry Lakes, and he had several real crackers including a fully scaled Mirror of 27lb and a Common of 23lb.
Dean Phillips and his good friend Mick Lonergan spent the weekend in Kingfisher Lodge on Cherry Springs and shared a 9 carp catch. the action shot below of Dean playing a Carp into the net held by Mick, is also one of this years favourite photos. Thanks to Ben Wales who took the shot.
