Jack Grace shows it pays to start young!
Friday 4 May 2018
Grandad Steve Shelley fished this week with his Grandson Jack Grace (age 6), as the Grace family spent four days in the Cottage. The Cottage was the place to be this weekend with plenty of Carp in evidence particularly from Wednesday onwards. In truth the Carp were more cruising than feeding. Steve and Jack did well to land three Carp to 24-08 as you can see from the photos below.
I will confess to being a little nervous about the thought of a 6 year old handling my ‘prized Carp’. I happened to be around when Jack, under close supervision from Steve, landed his 18lb Mirror. I have to say he did really well and handled the Carp much better than some of our adult guests. Well done to you both and we look forward to seeing the Grace family again in the future.
Four other Carp along with a couple lost were reported from Cherry Lake to 27-04. Sorry no photo of a lovely Common.
Dean Goode stayed in Pochard Lodge this week. The fishing slowed down a little on Cherry Mere this week, after the 30 Carp catch enjoyed last weekend by Keith Barrick and John Oliver (see last post). Dean worked at it and was delighted with his results. An 18lb Common was a new PB for him. He smashed this on Thursday night with a 26-08 Mirror. As you can see from the photos below he absolutely ‘loved’ this Carp! Well done Dean.
