Here we go again
Hopefully normal service will resume in December.
Thursday 5 November 2020
Well here we go again into another lockdown. I have been silent so far this week because I have not been clear about our position as a fishery, as well as the fact that I have been busy managing our guests who were due to come in November and have been disappointed by the fact we are closing. I will confess to also being somewhat depressed at a personal level by the thought of a lockdown as it gets both cold and dark.
As some of you would have seen from the Angling Trust, who seem to be doing a good job for us anglers, it has been confirmed that fishing including night fishing is allowed, and anglers can travel for this recreation. This makes it very 'grey' for us as a fishery, and for now we have decided to close Cherry Lake. A position which we will keep under review.
As before, we are thankful that most of our disappointed guests have worked with us and have found other dates to visit early in 2021.
Possibly it is not a bad time to give the lakes a bit of a rest. We had the first proper frost of the year this week, which is always a bit of a 'shock' to the fish, and fishing which was already getting harder ......will get rock hard for a week or two!
This weekend we only had one Carp landed from Cherry Lake. This was a very nice Mirror of 27lb, caught around 19.00 on Saturday evening, by first time visitor Simon Gilbert in the Cottage. Well done Simon
We will take the opportunity provided by this lockdown to bring forward some of our winter work. When I have something interesting to say, I will give you an update. If not hopefully we can resume normal service in December.
In the meantime please stay safe and enjoy life where you can.
