Hayley Michel lands her new PB a 20-06 Mirror from Cherry Springs
Sunday 19 July 2015
Angling couple Joe Fursland and Hayley Michel have been enjoying their holiday break in Kingfisher Lodge on Cherry Springs. Not only were they able to ‘farm out’ their children, but by Sunday afternoon they had landed 12 Carp, three of which were an 18-08 and 18-04 Common, and 15lb Mirror and a new PB 20-06 Mirror to Hayley.
As you can see from the photo Hayley’s Mirror was caught in the dark in the every early hours. Extremely well done Hayley.
This Carp, which is showing several knocks from it’s recent spawning efforts, was stocked into Cherry Springs in November 13 at 15-08 and has put on almost 5lb’s since then. Not a huge growth rate but a good steady one. Indeed given the large number of fish in Cherry Springs, I am pleased that the Carp are growing and it proves that our heavy investment in feeding them is working.
Joe reported seeing a number of ‘big lumps’ basking in the sun. As regular readers of my up dates know, I continue to be frustrated that very few of the bigger Carp in the lake appear to be landed. Given the growth rates mentioned above, and the fish we are seeing, it can only be a matter of time before the lake record (which is held by three different anglers and Carp at 26-08) goes. I fully expect Cherry Spring by next April to be the third lake to report a Carp over 30lb.
