Danny Coombs leads the way with a 33-11 Common
Monday 27 July 2015
Cherry Lake almost always does well in low pressure and rain, particularly if we have some good anglers fishing at the time, and so it proved to be the case again this weekend.
Unusually all three Cherry Lake Lodges were booked by a group of friends, the excuse being Paul Shakespeare’s birthday. Paul fished in Grebe Lodge and enjoyed landing several Carp including a 26-00 and a 21-00 Ghostie. Very nice birthday presents indeed! Paul’s friend Wayne fishing in Osprey Lodge also landed two including a 26-08 Mirror.
Danny Coombs fishing in Heron Lodge led the way landing 5 Carp including a fantastic Common Carp of 33-11. Danny concentrated on the plateau at about 60 yards and baited heavily. All of his fish came in a 24 hour spell starting on Sunday morning. Well done Danny.
This particular Common is known by us as ‘Maddy’, which was named after Nathan Dufosee’s daughter Maddison and was 29-04 when caught in April 2014 by Nathan.
‘Maddy’ follows hard on the heels of the capture of ‘The Patch’ at 31-08 on Wednesday and is the 9th different confirmed Carp caught over 30lb from Cherry lake in 2015. As I have said in some of my recent updates, there are a good few Carp of over 30lb that we have not seen on the bank in 2015. We expect to see them soon and roll on the photo of the tenth!
Pochard Lodge also produced the goods for 13 year old Joseph O’Hara. Joseph has clearly done a good job in sweet talking his Mum and Dad into booking Cherry Mere for a week’s holiday. As neither Mum or Dad are fishing. Over the weekend he landed 7 Carp including this lovely 18lb Common below. I look forward to giving a full update on Joseph’s week next time.
