Cherry Springs turns on
Thursday 4 May 2017
I thought it was time to dedicate one update to the smaller lakes here at Cherry Lakes.
Cherry Springs has been a bit off form for a few weeks. For such a heavily stocked lake it has been much slower than I would have expected. Even with the lovely warm weather at the beginning of April (when the surface was ‘black’ with Carp), they did not switch on in their normal impressive way.
I am pleased to say that the Cherry Springs is definitely on the up and has clearly turned on. One of our regular guests, Alan Waddington got the ball rolling with 14 Carp, mainly doubles, including a very pleasing 24lb+ Mirror. He was followed into Kingfisher Lodge this week by angling buddies Paul Humphrey and Alan Whitehead.
Alan was only able to stay for 48 hours, but he made his time count with 5 Carp landed and several lost, including this cracking 25-01 Mirror, along with this 17-14 Mirror, pictured below. Paul has caught a further 11 Carp to 15-04 and he still has 24 hours to go!
The other lakes have been producing steadily for a few weeks. Cherry Mere has produced several Carp this week including Mirrors of 22-06 and 20-08. Cherry Pool has not been fished this week, but has been producing a good number of a range of species (depending on which species of fish are being targeted by the angler), including a lovely 2-08 Crucian Carp to Tom Hipkiss last weekend
