Cherry Lake continues to perform in the wind and rain
Sunday 7 February 2016
Another very wet and windy weekend at Cherry Lakes. Saturday was a complete washout, the river has come up sharply and the lake by about three inches almost overnight, but this did not put off Rob Chapman fishing in Heron Lodge.
Rob has landed three Carp to date led by an impressive 27lb Common Carp, all of which came to high visibility pop ups fished at distance. He also had another Common at 18lb, and this beautiful Mirror below. This Mirror Carp was stocked in November at 10-08, and came out at 14-02. Which to me suggests that the fish have settled down well and are clearly feeding.
Matthew Bloomsfield also had a good weekend in Pochard Lodge on Cherry Mere. Another lake which is fishing more like summer than winter. To date he has landed 11 Carp, all doubles to 18lb. Matthew said the fish were in good condition and was very pleased with his holiday break. He enjoyed having Cherry Mere exclusively to himself.
The angler in Egret Lodge reported a lot of good Roach (to around 1-04) and Perch caught close in on a float, as well as Carp of 15lb and 16lb. He also had big ‘smiles’ about his weekend break.
With the weather set to stay wet and mild, it is a shame there are not more anglers taking advantage of the conditions. We have availability throughout the rest of this month and into March, so If you fancy a visit, particularly mid-week give us a call on 01285 869887.
