Andy Storey joins the Cherry Lake 30+ club
Thursday 31 August 2017
Cherry Lake has become moody since last Thursday with the Carp enjoying the hot Bank holiday weekend but not playing ball! This all changed last night with six runs in about 6 hours to three different anglers. The fish were also bubbling and fizzing as well as jumping and rolling. It never seems to amaze me how quickly Carp can both switch on and off the feed.
Andy Storey has been fishing with his son Ryan in Heron Lodge on their first trip to Cherry Lakes. After trying several different places on the far bank with pop-ups, they switched on Wednesday evening to the middle where the Carp where showing and moved onto small white wafters. Their first carp came to Andy around 20.00 and it was a Carp that was worth the wait. Andy landed his new PB, a 32-02 Mirror Carp and in doing so became the latest member of the 30+ club. As you can see from the photo below he was delighted….indeed in football parlance he ‘was over the moon’!
This particular Carp was last caught in April by Danny Rowlinson in April at 33-02. I would expect it to beat this weight if she does not get caught again before the winter.
With the weather now changing as we enter into the autumn, I am looking forwards to seeing more of the big Cherry Lake Carp.
Paul Rolfe has been staying in Kingfisher Lodge on Cherry Springs this week on his third visit to Cherry Lakes. Indeed Paul was one of our original Cottage guests in 2012 before we opened the Lodges. Not only has it bee good to see Paul and Donna again, but it has been good to reminisce. Paul has caught steadily since Monday, I think he has had around a dozen Carp so far, including this cracking 22lb Mirror below.
Andy Perkins has been on holiday with his two fishing sons Ben and Luke in Pochard Lodge on Cherry Mere this week. They have caught regularly all week with some fifteen carp to date. I believe Ben is just in the lead? Approx half of these have been doubles the rest pristine singles which the guys have said are ‘a real pleasure’ to catch (these are our babies coming through). The biggest this week have been a 20lb Common and this 24-07 Mirror to Ben below.
