Adam Bowyer braves the snow to get his trophy shot!
Sunday 10 December 2017
Adam Bowyer has been on his own at Cherry Lakes this weekend. The only angler to brave the cold! He is very glad he did and has proved you can catch in almost any conditions.
Adam, who is a very capable angler, and has visited Cherry Lakes successfully in the winter before, favours the smaller lakes in the winter. As he says, in the winter it can be hard to find the Carp…….and on the smaller lakes you know they cannot be too far away.
Adam’s hard work certainly paid off as he has now got one of the real trophy shots of Carp fishing……a Carp in the snow. Adam has been fishing with small high visibility pop-ups fished just off the bottom. He has been moving his baits around regularly trying to find them. He caught this lovely Cherry Mere Carp of 18-08 from Pochard Lodge this afternoon and was unlucky enough to lose a second carp at the net.
As you can see from the photos below, this Mirror was in pristine condition in her winter colours. Her weight was almost immaterial (18-08). Simply catching a Carp in the snow (and you can see from the photos that it was still lightly snowing) is a fantastic achievement which does not come along too often. If you also look closely at the photos, you can also see Adam’s snowman with its carrot nose!
Well done Adam. Really top angling and well deserved. Winter Carp fishing is all about ‘who dares….wins!’.
