32-04 Common is Joe’s UK Personal Best!
Sunday 29 March 2015
Joe McPhail and fishing buddy Tom Wood with their partners Hayley and Bianca are enjoying a fabulous weekend in Pochard Lodge on Cherry Mere. As well as loving the new Lodge, which is ideal for groups of four, they are very much enjoying the fishing.
So far they have caught 20 Carp, all of which are doubles, including some cracking uncaught Carp. The biggest of the weekend is this magnificent Common Carp of 32-04 which was caught by Joe earlier this afternoon. This Carp is a new UK PB for Joe and he was understandably delighted with beauty. This also sets the new record for Cherry Mere.
Joe and Tom caught some very pretty Carp, most of which looked like they had been feeding all winter and are in great condition. I have included two of the photos they have forwarded to me. Well done to you both.
We have set Cherry Mere up be a lake where guests should reasonably expect to catch several Carp a day. 125 double figure plus Carp in an acre of water should always give the angler a chance but not be too easy. The last two weeks since opening have found our lucky guests being in the ‘right place at the right time’. The fishing will slow down over the next few weeks as the Carp wise up. If you are intending to come to Pochard Lodge please come with a realistic expectation!
Cherry Lake has been quiet this weekend with only two anglers fishing through what is normally excellent conditions (warm winds, low pressure and rain). Three Carp have been reported lost and several takes missed. As I have said before it is important to convert your chances on Cherry Lake. The Carp are clearly moving and are now to be seen rolling and showing on most days.
